rodent trapping Colorado Springs's Best Rodent Removal: We provide secure, fast, reliable, and efficient rat removal and rat control services. Using a variety of methods, we will make your home or business rat-free. Rat removal must be done with careful attention, as improper training or the use of bait often lead to unintended consequences. Hence, high-quality and humane tools must be used to handle rat infestation. Over the past few decades, the population of rats has exploded due to the expanding region that has resulted in the constant disruption of natural rat habitats. As a result, these rodents are forced to look for food and shelter elsewhere, which usually means homes and commercial buildings. Thankfully, all is not lost if you're dealing with a rat infestation problem. We can help make sure that your rat control needs are promptly taken care of! Rats are omnivores and would eat on almost anything. This makes trash cans, storage areas, bird feeders, and more target areas for rats. Furthermore, rats make use of small holes and crack to gain entrance into places like the attic, crawlspaces, or walls. These areas also provide them with the perfect conditions to raise their young ones. If a rat infestation occurs in your building, rest assured that you can rely on the expertise of our rat extermination team. We provide pet-safe, humane, and affordable rat removal services. Our core specialties include residential and commercial rodent control services. We aim to ensure that your home or workspace remains comfortable, clean, and free from uninvited guests. You can give us a call to find out more about our process!

Colorado Springs pest control

We Colorado's top experts in rodent control. We are not a typical Colorado Springs rat removal or pest control company. We don't treat rats or mice like insects, because they are not - they are mammals! You can't just use poison to get rid of them, like you can with insects. Unlike most Colorado Springs pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions. We don't just use poison every month. We solve your rodent problem forever, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas, no matter how small, with steel
  • Set a dozen or more rat or mouse traps in the house and attic
  • Remove all rodents as they are caught and monitor for activity
  • Once there is no more activity and no more caught, we're done
  • When necessary, we clean rodent droppings, replace insulation, and repair chewed electric wires

Colorado Springs Rodent Removal Tip:

Are mice or rats easier to trap?
Rodents inside the home are quite common. And while it's a fairly unpleasant experience to come across one, you are quite likely to do so in your lifetime. Which raises the question, for most homeowners - how do I get rid of it?

The obvious answer is, you trap the creature, and this often begs the question: which is easier to trap, a mouse or a rat? While rats are larger and tend to be more common, especially recently in urban areas (such as highly populated cities), both mice and rats have been encountered around homes for one simple reason: they provide an excellent source of food and warmth, which is something these rodents are desperately searching for.

rodent trapping So to settle this question once and for all: which is easier to trap: rats or mice?
Well, as it turns out, this isn't as clear-cut an answer as one might expect, with several considerations entering into it.

One such aspect is size. Obviously, rats tend to be larger than mice, with the average adult mouse measuring about 4 to 8 inches, and the average rat going all the way up to 10 inches (and usually not measuring less than 6 or 7). So rats are fairly larger than mice, which means that when you set up a trap, you want to make sure it is attuned to the size of the rodent you want to catch. For example, any type of mouse trap might be too small to securely fit a rat, and thus it might either allow it to escape or cause various gruesome complications, which we won't get into.

Another thing you want to think about when planning to trap a rodent is bait. We all know the old myth about luring rodents with a juicy piece of cheese, but in reality, things aren't often this easy. As it turns out, most rodents won't actually flock to that golden bit of cheese as you see mice do in cartoons. Quite to the contrary. Mice are generally partial to peanut butter and various seeds and grains, while rats tend to prefer meatier bait. So what you use to lure them will also heavily affect how the rodent reacts.

Lastly, a factor you should take into consideration is behavior. By nature, mice tend to be more readily curious than rats, and so are more likely to come and inspect a trap, bait, or anything like that. Rats, on the other hand, tend to be wary of new things, and sort of expect them to be dangerous, so experts recommend laying down your trap for a few days without activating or baiting it, just to allow the rodent to get used to it.

Ultimately, which rodent is easier to trap depends on a lot of things, and largely on your approach to the situation. Mice can be easier to trap since they're likely to come to the contraption, but that doesn't guarantee anything. With any rodent you're trying to catch, you should act patiently and with care. Remember, these are creatures accustomed to being hunted or captured, so they already know what you're trying to do. Stealth's the operative word here.

A word on traps…
Regardless of which rodent you're dealing with, we highly suggest swapping the traditional snap trap or the grossly inhumane glue trap for a live trap. This is basically a cage with bait inside that attracts and then successfully traps the rodent without actually injuring it. From there on, you can carry the rat or mouse to a safe location where it won't bother anyone and where it can live in peace.
